Phrases Set to Stun

While struggling impotently with LJ style manipulation, these phrases come to mind. Do they work as sentences in a piece of fiction?
Tom is a pretty big font around here.
Looks like somebody put a check in Bill's check-box today.
Her style of dress always enhanced the intentions of her layout.
They all seem to a allow a certain latitude of interpretation.
